Hyeju Ahn is a New York City–based Korean actor and singer working across theatre, film, and new work. Originally from Seoul, she brings a bilingual and cross-cultural perspective to her work, with a particular interest in contemporary stories that explore identity, culture, and the Asian and Asian American experience.

Her recent New York credits include Maya in Hey Mom, I Got Engaged at The Tank, a lead performer in A Sketch of New York, and Ejlif Stockmann in An Enemy of the People at the American Theatre of Actors. Her screen work includes lead roles in the independent films Nose and Bursting on the Fold.

Alongside her work as a performer, Hyeju has worked as a translator and interpreter in the Korean professional theatre industry, collaborating across languages and cultures. Most recently, she worked with the Korean production of Simon Stone’s The Cherry Orchard at Park Avenue Armory. These experiences have shaped her interest in international and cross-cultural theatrical collaboration and in work that brings culturally specific perspectives to the stage.

Hyeju holds a B.A. in English Literature and completed the Integrated Musical Theatre Conservatory at AMDA New York. She is especially drawn to bold contemporary work that gives Asian and Asian American characters specificity, complexity, and a full range of humanity, and hopes to continue collaborating with artists creating culturally specific, boundary-pushing work across theatre and film.
